Google has now released the Android 8.1 OTA and factory images for most of its device. Now, you can download them and use on your devices. The update is for:
Google Pixel 2
Original Pixel and Pixel XL
Pixel C tablet
The fresh 8.1 update is going to be rolling out by next week on Google Pixel and Nexus devices. However, today, Google is seeding Android 8.1 to the Android Open Source Project as well.
Just to have you updated, the Android 8.1 consists of the Neural Networks API. The Neural Networks API lets the apps to access to machine learning and hardware acceleration.
Yes, there are enhancements to Autofill, memory optimizations, bug fixes and security patches also included.
The new Android 8.1 is also able to unlock the Google Pixel 2 and 2 XL’s Visual Core imaging chip now. This will be giving third party apps to gain access to the HDR+ capabilities of the devices in general.
But, the display color modes have been pushed into their own sub-menu, just below the Display.
There’s a first-hand battery indicator for Bluetooth devices in the Quick Settings menu, if they are connected.
OPM1.171019.011, is the build number of the firmware.
Oddly, we were incapable to install the OTA zip file for the concluding 8.1 on top of the 8.1 Developer Preview 2. Maybe, because of the older timestamp on the former one.
